FAQs
Our office hours are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 9am – 7pm MST and Tuesdays 9am – 2pm MST. We typically stop taking walk-ins an hour before we close; however due to the unpredictable nature of being an urgent care facility, this can change on a case-by-case basis. Please call ahead of time if you are arriving close to the end of the day to make sure we are still accepting walk-in patients or to join our.
We typically see dogs and cats. In emergency situations involving quality of life in other species we try our best to help. Please call us at 801-341-9707 to see if we’re the right fit or if we can help direct you to another hospital.
- Veterinary urgent care and emergency hybrid hospitals provide a middle ground between general veterinary practices and 24/7 Emergency hospitals, offering specialized services for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions alongside emergency capabilities.
- Priority Pet Care Veterinary Hospital is here for your pets when your primary veterinarian is closed or when their schedule is booked but your pet needs to be seen the same day.
- While we are not a critical care emergency hospital, we are able to help stabilize those pets that are traveling a distance to get to the ER. Priority Pet Care is locally and independently owned, and we strive to provide similar care and support as your primary veterinary hospital.

- We do not offer in-clinic payment plans. We offer third party financing through Care Credit, Cherry Payments, and ScratchPay.
- The cardholder of Care Credit must be physically present in the clinic at the time of discharge.
- We take all major credit and debit cards and cash. We do not accept checks.
- Payment is due at time of service. You may be required to leave a deposit if your pet requires extensive diagnostics and/or stabilization care, stays in hospital for a procedure, or has a surgery with stable hospitalization time.
- At Priority Pet Care, we strive to keep our pricing transparent and review any further costs beyond your initial physical exam before proceeding with any treatments. We understand that veterinary care can be expensive and will offer multiple treatment options when reasonable.
- An office visit is $120.00 (this is roughly twice the cost of a sick visit with your primary care during the day and less than the cost of an ER visit). It covers the time spent obtaining medical history and initial vital signs with a team member and a physical exam from the veterinarian to assess your pet. From that assessment, we will make diagnostic and treatment recommendations and then provide you with an estimate for those diagnostics and treatment recommendations.
- For any diagnostics or treatments, your pet will require an exam with the doctor to form a valid patient client relationship.
- Different health conditions may require different diagnostics and different treatments. We cannot give an exact cost estimate for your pet before they have been seen and examined by the veterinarian. But, as a point of reference, some of the costs for our most commonly performed diagnostic tests include:
- Abaxis CBC/Biochemistry/Electrolytes: $218
- Radiograph Study with interpretation: $400.40
- Urinalysis and Microscopic Evaluation: $80.00
- We understand that costs are always a consideration and we strive to do our best to work within your budget to provide quality care for your pet. If you already have a budget in mind, please make our staff aware at check in so we can advise if we are still the best fit to provide services before beginning.
The wait time to see the doctor depends on how many patients we are currently seeing and their illness. Our wait times are typically shorter than the emergency room. We are now allowing pet owners to sign into a virtual waiting room to help shorten wait times and allow you to wait for the majority of the time in your home.
We do our best to stay on schedule and keep our wait times as short as possible. However, there are times when a very sick pet comes into our clinic and requires immediate care. This can impact your wait and visit time. We will do our best to keep you informed of any delays if they occur.
- We cannot provide any medical advice for your to treat your pet at home. Many serious problems come with vague symptoms such as hiding, not eating, or subtle behavior changes. We would rather have the chance to evaluate those patients sooner rather than later to help intervene before symptoms escalate.
- Many over-the -counter medications that are safe for humans are generally ineffective or sometimes toxic to pets. Even over the counter medications for pets are often not advisable as they interact poorly with prescription medications or prevent us from prescribing certain medications that would benefit your pet (i.e Aspirin).
- If in doubt, please call us at 801-341-9707.

- We do not. Priority Pet Care Veterinary Hospital is available for sick visits, injuries, and urgent concerns you have for your pet.

- Our mission is to provide support for primary care hospitals by providing an urgent care option for their clients when they are not available or able to get them seen quickly.
- We share medical notes with your primary care veterinarian so there is no delay in continuity of care.
- Just like human medicine, the ER is for life-threatening issues or extremely serious concerns. If your dog or cat cannot breathe, is bleeding significantly, has a broken limb, was hit by a car, etc, you should take your pet directly to the ER.
- We also recognize that you may not be able to determine whether or not your pet has a life-threatening condition on your own. In those cases, you encourage you to call us at 801-341-9707 or come into Priority Pet Care Veterinary Hospital where we can help triage, help stabilize (if necessary), and facilitate transfer to the nearest ER best suited to help you and your pet.
- We focus on much of the same types of sick visits (i.e vomiting, diarrhea, ear infections, itchy skin, pain, ocular concerns, and more) but with the availability to see you the same day or after hours when you primary veterinarian in unavailable.
- In some cases, we can assist with some surgeries that maybe cannot wait due to your pet being painful such as a bleeding mass or an abscessed tooth, but we do recommend calling your primary care veterinarian first to see what their availability is.
- Priority Pet Care Veterinary Hospital has different availability than your primary care veterinarian. We want to be here for you when you have a concern about your pet outside of your primary care veterinarian’s office hours.
